Buying a small business...help

my wife is looking into buying a small business. i was wondering what you look for in regards to the price compared with gross revenue, net profit, inventory amount....etc...

from the looks of it, i think we are getting a solid deal...just wanted to see if anybody has any experiece in this...

invitation store...they have gifts and other smaller items also, but 70% of the revenue is from invitations...there is only 2 invitation stores in my city, (90,000 people), so it is one or the other...
